My Life With Hugo

Photo Essay showcasing the leftover trauma of living under a charismatic authoritarian dictatorship.

For more than half of my life the president of my country was the same man, Hugo Chavez ruled until the day of his death and under that rule I became a second class citizen, this was a consequence of being un-aligned with the party and un-devouted to the leader. I grew up feeling him as a constant presence in my life, wether on TV, radio or by the consequences of his decisions. I left my country and Chavez died, but one thing that my generation constantly talks about is the impact he left on our life, and how we find him reflected in several people, the little dictator we all keep inside I asume.
